In the Toastmaster meeting yesterday, I was the Word Master besides presenting my first speech.
The word that I introduced was:
Devote (Verb, used with object)
1. dedicate; pay full attention to something; to give up or appropriate to or concentrate on a particular pursuit, occupation, purpose, cause, etc.
E.g.: to devote one’s time to reading.
2. to appropriate by or as if by a vow; set apart or dedicate by a solemn or forma act; consecrate.
E.g.: She devoted her life to God.
And, for the Thought of the Day:
Dare to live the life you have dreamed for yourself. Go forward and make your dreams come true.
- Ralph Waldo Emerson
After the meeting, my friend asked me, where did I get the word “devote” from?
Aha, actually, I got it from a song, a famous song of Enigma, and it’s my favorite song as well.
It is the song “Return to innocence” ^^
Return To Innocence - Enigma
Love - Devotion
Feeling - Emotion
Don't be afraid to be weak
Don't be too proud to be strong
Just look into your heart my friend
That will be the return to yourself
The return to innocence
If you want, then start to laugh
If you must, then start to cry
Be yourself don't hide
Just believe in destiny
Don't care what people say
Just follow your own way
Don't give up and miss the chance
To return to innocence
That's not the beginning of the end
That's the return to yourself
The return to innocence
OK, time to go to bed~! Wish all of you have sweet dreams, and happy weekend!!
