21DPC Day 21 – On a Scale of 1-10, How Happy Are You? What Have You Learned About Positivity and Happiness?

  1. On a scale of 1-10, how happy are you? (Returning to the question on Day 1 of 21DPC)
  2. Compare the score with what you assigned yourself for Day 1. Is there any difference? If so, how much is the difference?
  3. For those whose scores reflected a difference, why do you think this is the case? For those who have the exact same scores, why do you think that’s the case?
  4. What have you learned about positivity and happiness in the past 21 days?
  5. How can you apply your 21DPC lessons (from #4) moving forward?

On the scale of 1 – 10, I would say, my happiness still remain the same, 9. Although there’s no difference in term of the scale level, but I experienced the feeling of looking at people’s good points instead of looking at the bad side. It makes me believe even more about the statement “No matter how bad a person is, he/she must have something good”.

Although we always listen to the stories about looking at people’s good virtues, but have we applied that in our daily life? To me, I seldom. When I start to dislike a person, anything the person does, I don’t feel satisfy. That was the problem. Now, I have to learn to see what are the good things that the person has, and I should learn from him / her.

Celebrate the past 21 days of positivity!

Today, I celebrated the completing of 21DPC by going a walk in a recreation park. I took the pebble path in the park and walked for one big round, then I follow the jogging path to walk a big round around the park. I spent one hour for only the walk, slow walk.

Identify at least one positive thing about your day.

Today, I went to the zither coaching class. The main coach was unable to attend the session, so I replaced him to go on the stage for coaching. Now I can feel better atmosphere between me and the students! We can talk, can laugh together now~ ^^

21DPC Day 20 – Who are 3 Positive People You Can Spend More Time With?

I wrote the post, but because my house’s internet was having problem, I delayed in posting up again… 悲伤

Who are 3 Positive People You Can Spend More Time With?

3 positive people that I can spend more time with:

  1. My lovely mom
  2. My best friend who just delivered a baby girl
  3. My good friend who always takes the initiative to date me out for meal 吐舌笑脸

Reach out to the 3 people you listed.

I have the plan to date them out in April because it will be my college’s semester break. Whereas for my mom, I always have chit chat with her, almost everyday, unless I come back home late.

Identify at least one positive thing about your day.

I had a date of meal with my net friend, a guy that I admire. 尴尬 However, this is only the second time that I met him although we have known each other for more than 6 years. We had good chat, good laugh together. Ha~ I felt nice when I was with him. Still, we are good friends for now. We are going to meet up again in April. This round, I will go to his city and he plan to bring me hanging out if he has the time. 大笑

21DPC Day 19 – What are 3 Positive Thoughts You Can Replace Your Negative Thoughts With? (See Day 18)

What are 3 Positive Thoughts You Can Replace Your Negative Thoughts With? (See Day 18)

When the students don’t listen to me and keep talking in the class. I stop talking, listen to what they are talking about. If that relates to my syllabus, I discuss with them, or else, I please them to discuss about it later, and I will join their conversation.

When I have the thought that it is very hard for me to slim down. I changes my mind: I want a healthy body. In order to have a healthy body, I must workout and slim down my body.

Lastly, when I have the thought that I don’t have time to handle all the tasks on hand. I tell myself: do it one by one, by priority. I can finish it.

Uphold those 3 positive thoughts.

I stop complaining, keep doing things by priority. Finally, I finished setting the test question, finish marking tests and assignments, and I managed to go for gym, and arrange for the role players for tomorrow’s meeting. I can finish the tasks! 大笑

Also, I keep telling myself: I want to be healthy, so I have to slim down.
Imagining myself sweating was to drop off my weight while I did the workout. XD

Identify at least one positive thing about your day.

Today, the guy that I admire called me, told me that he visits to my city for a business trip, and he invited me for a dinner tomorrow night! XD I feel so happy for that~~

21DPC Day 18 – What are 3 Negative Thoughts You Carry? And Why?

What are 3 Negative Thoughts You Carry? And Why?

3 negative thoughts:

  • Why does the students so lazy and don’t want to listen to me?
  • It is very hard for me to slim down… 悲伤
  • I don’t have the time to handle so many tasks on hand…

When I cannot complete the goal as I set before, I started to have negative thoughts, tried to push off my accountability towards the failure.

Sieve out the negative thoughts that cross your mind today.

Today, during the class, my students resist to do the last practical question, but wanted me to proceed to teach the syllabus of the next semester. That was because they are more interested in the subject of the next semester. At first, I felt disappointed with the work I have prepared, but when come to think again, at least they are interested in studies. Since I have briefly discussed about the last practical question, I started a little bit of the new subject’s syllabus, in giving a brief introduction to the students.

Identify at least one positive thing about your day.

Today, one of my colleagues told me that I look slimmer. ^^ Again, it motivates me to workout again!

21DPC Day 17 – What Makes You Laugh?

What Makes You Laugh?

There are many things that make me laugh. A simple joke, reading comics, watching anime, writing blog posts, etc. 微笑

Do the things that make you laugh today!

Today, I marked my students’ assignments. It was a system about a game “Who Wants To Be A Millionnaire”. I tried to play the game, and I failed even in the first question of the game. I laughed, laughed at myself. XD

Identify at least one positive thing about your day.

Today I submitted the income tax form online. According to the calculation, I have overpaid the income tax last year, so I will receive the income tax return payment soon. 大笑 Waiting for money~~

21DPC Day 16 – What is Your Favorite Pastime? And Why?

What is Your Favorite Pastime? And Why?

In fact, I always tell people that my favourite pastime is sleeping. I enjoy sleeping a lot, so whenever I have a chance, I will sleep. For example, after I have completely prepared to go to work, and I see that it is still early, I will just sit in the living room and sleep. Since I can fall into sleep within 5 minutes, so it is not a problem for me to even sleep for 5 or 10 minutes. I feel satisfaction, still. 吐舌笑脸

Of course, besides sleeping, I love drawing, writing, playing zither, swimming, learn new things, etc. 微笑I would say, most of my favorite pastime are all done alone. I love to stay alone in my room, or do anything alone, enjoying my own sweet time.

Spend at least 10 minutes on your pastime today.

Everyday, I spent around 15 minutes in writing my life log about what I have done, what I heard, what I thought, what I saw in the whole day. Most of the time, I jot it down immediately, unless while I’m working / driving. Thus, I usually carry my lifr log notebook together with me. 微笑

Identify at least one positive thing about your day.

I just completed re-arranging my excel file data in calculating the students’ marks as I implemented another evaluation system to their assignment marks. (I’m an evil lecturer, always think of ways for not giving out the marks to students so easily… Hehehe…) With that, I learned how to write VBA code in the excel file now. ^^ It is not hard, just that I have never thought of writing code in the excel file. As long as I can complete the queries by using formulas, I will choose to use the formulas instead of writing VBA code.

21DPC Day 15 – Who is Someone You Dislike? What is 1 Positive Thing You Can Share About Him/Her?

I supposed to complete this on Thursday, but because I was busy the whole day, I left it out. I read through the thread on Friday, but I still didn’t have the time to post it up. Now here it is.
Who is Someone You Dislike? What is 1 Positive Thing You Can Share About Him/Her?

I don’t like one of my community club members. She doesn’t seem to be cooperate and work towards her responsible role. However, if someone who is more powerful pushes her going, she will move on, it is just that I’m not the one who are able to push her moving forward. 悲伤

One thing positive about her is that, she cares about her health a lot. Probably, I would say that she cares about work-life balance a lot. She is able to go for a few trips every year, to enjoy her life to the fullest.

Approach someone you don’t normally feel like talking to.

I approached to the staff in the admin office to settle some stuff. I usually don’t communicate with them as they are kind of no manners sometimes. Unexpectedly, the staff looked friendly and willing to help me to complete the work. 微笑

Identify at least one positive thing about your day.

After class, the students asked for my consultation on their assignment. It was great that they are able to create the game system with nice interface. ^^

Also, I practiced zither for one hour. Finally, I managed to play the song for examination in a complete version. XD

21DPC Day 14 – What are 5 Things to Celebrate about Your Life Today?

What are 5 Things to Celebrate about Your Life Today?

The 5 things to celebrate about my life today:

  1. When I woke up, I knew that I’m still alive.
  2. When I left my house, my lovely mom waved at me. I knew that I have a very good mom.
  3. When I met my students, I knew that I have my dream job.
  4. When I had my lunch, I knew that I’m still healthy to had my favourite food.
  5. When I went to the zither class, I knew that I still have my hands to play my favourite music instrument.

In fact, there are many things that I think of celebrating everyday. I appreciate all of them.

Give thanks for those 5 things.

Everyday, when I wake up, I looked at the mirror and smile to myself. I appreciate that I’m still alive when I wake up. When I leave my house for work, I wave at my mom too while I slowly drive off.
When I meet my students, I communicate with them prior to the class, or at least say “hi” to them while I meet them outside the class / college. When I have nothing to do, or thinking of something, I shake my hands, to ensure that my hands are active without any pain. I also try my very best to exercise everyday, at least 15 minutes of stretching exercise. 微笑

Identify at least one positive thing about your day.

Today, after the class, I spent my time in a book store while waiting for the time to go to zither class. I read a few books in brief, and I bought a motivational book again. 吐舌笑脸Also, I promised my Japanese friend that I’m going to buy a music stand for her. Today, I finally got one for her~

After I reached to the zither class venue, I saw nobody was there. I gave a call to the person in charge, then only I knew that they have cancelled the class. Although I felt disappointed initially, but when I thought back again, at least I have done what I promised to my friend, to buy her a music stand, and I also bought a book for myself. ^^

21DPC Day 13 – What are 3 Good Things about Receiving Criticisms?

What are 3 Good Things about Receiving Criticisms?

When receiving critics, many people tend to give excuses for themselves to prove that the opposite party is wrong about their critics. I have to admit that, sometimes I do the same too espeically towards the person that I don’t like.

However, that is the time that I think back on my relationship with the person. Why do I don’t like the person? Anything bad happened before between us? How can I improve my impression towards the person?

Besides, that is the time for me to reflect back on my work carefully, see if I really did that bad? How can I improve my work? Or, is there any way to enhance the work?

The last part, I should reflect back on my inner heart. I gave the excuses to protect myself. I should stop giving so many excuses for that. I should maintain a positive emotion in my life. I should let myself to be a happy person, instead of getting angry because of the criticisms.

To me, these are the 3 aspects that I should have reflected when I receive criticisms.

Think over the criticisms you received in the past.

The most impressive criticism that I received was from my ex-boss in a conference call last time. In front of many people, my ex-boss said that I was the one that did not follow the process in system issue support. In fact, I was not informed about the issue, so I didn’t know anything about that, until my user told me that the issue was urgent and will be fixed soon. =.="

Identify at least one positive thing about your day.

Today, I managed to practice zither for 2 hours! ^^ Now, I’m preparing for tomorrow’s zither class~

21DPC Day 12 – What Does It Mean To Be a Positive Person? How Can You Be More Positive?

What Does It Mean To Be a Positive Person?

A positive person always think positively on anything happen to him / her, has less or zero complaints. He or she takes all the failures as experience, and always spread the happy atmosphere to everyone around him / her to be happy.

How Can You Be More Positive?

For me, I would try to think the other side of the negative incident and take it positively. Do my best not to complain, and I appreciate what I have currently. Be sure to make everyone around me to be happy. If the people around me are happy, I will feel happy too.

Start applying what you wrote on being more positive.

I chat with my parents everyday, be sure that they are happy everyday (in fact, they are happy most of the time). I chat with my students and understand their problems, listen to them. I might not be able to help out in their problems, but I can be a listener to let them release their tension. I will do my best not to complain. 微笑

Identify at least one positive thing about your day.

Yes, I have just sent an message to a contest participant in my club, who joined the contest but didn’t get the prize last night. I sent a message to console her, and hope that she is not disappointed with the contest result. Deep in my heart, I knew that she had done her best, and she did improve a lot as compared to the last contest two weeks ago. She replied me that she is fine, and I hope that she is really feeling fine for that.

Today, after the class, I went for a lunch with the students. They are very noisy, but it was fun to be with them, chat with them, listen to all sorts of their stories. As compared to last semester, their attitudes really changed to be better a lot. They started to care about their studies, be serious in their studies and do the practicals by themselves, or discuss with their friends. This is what I feel happy for. ^^

21DPC Day 11 – How Can You Better Handle the Negative People (from Day 10)?

How Can You Better Handle the Negative People (from Day 10)?

I usually discuss with them and share our positive experience. The common experience were the incidents where I used the law of attraction before. It could be an coincident to the person, but I have a few cases for them to refer to. What I wish is that they will have a better life, enjoy their life instead of worrying about all those negative thoughts and the things that will never happen. If they choose not to believe in me, then they just continue with their lives. The most important is that, I need to ensure that I’m not affected by their negative energy.

Fortunately, until today, I have met a few of negative people, but I’m not affected. In fact, their mindset changed to be more positive after knowing me. 微笑 I feel glad that I could affect people to go on with better life.

Identify at least one positive thing about your day.

I just got back home from the contest. I won the 2nd runner-up in the speech contest. ^^ To me, it is good enough to get the 2nd runner-up. And one thing, I found out that i didn’t even feel the nervousness before the contest. It could be good or bad intepretation, I guess. Some said, if you feel nervous, that shows that you care of the contest. So, does it mean that I didn’t care of the contest? =.=" Anyway, I know that I have tried my best. 大笑

21DPC Day 10 – Are There Any Negative People in Your Life? Who Are They? And Why Are They There?

Are There Any Negative People in Your Life?

In my life, I encountered a few people who are very negative. One of them is one of my net friends. He used to be a very negative thinking person when I first knew him. We both argued, or I should say, we "discussed" about our own philosophy, our thoughts. He always thought that the world can never be peaceful, which always full of dangerous people around us, and he always met something bad in his life. Although we discussed a lot, but at the end, we always have an agreement on our own thinking: Everyone has different thinking.

After 5 years knowing him, one day, he told me that his mindset changed after knowing me. He thinks positively now, and now his life is getting better. He has just started his software development business on his own. I hope that he could continue doing well in his life.

The other friends, they complain a lot, even my colleagues always complain about the students. I personally complain about my students for not working hard too. But, when I reflect back myself, it could be my problem that I cannot teach in a way that to attract students in listening to me. That’s what I should be learning. 微笑

Evaluate each person you come across today

This morning, I went out with my friend for a swim. Both of us didn’t swim too much, but we chatted a lot. XD

To me, he is a very cheerful person. Although I don’t really like some of his attitudes, but still, he is a very cheerful person, and he can always release his stress very fast.  To some people, he might be an irresponsible person, as he doesn’t really care too much of his work. However, in the other way round, he is a happy-go-lucky person. As long as he has done his work, that’s it.

Besides him, I didn’t meet up with anyone else except my family members. My family is a happy family. Although sometimes we have arguments, but those were not big argues. We can always resolve the problem easily. All of us know that we want to have a peaceful family, and because of the traditional family style, we respect the elders, so it is always a peaceful world in our family. ^^

Identify at least one positive thing about your day.

Today, I went swimming with the friend that I mentioned above. After that, we went to a shopping center and saw a book fair happening. Wow~~ I was so excited! XD Initially, I planned not to buy anything, just had a look in the book fair will do. But, I ended up… bought all these… =.=" Anyway, because of the books, I felt happy for the whole evening. 大笑

21DPC Day 9 – Who Inspires You? And Why?

Who Inspires You? And Why?

Both my parents always inspire me a lot. My father’s family is a typical old fashion family, which men are free from doing house chores, women do all of them. Men are the person to make all the decision and women don’t have the chance to object. My mum had to work to support the whole family, and after she came back from work, she had to do house chores too. She took care of my grandmother and my father very well. No matter how much my grandmother scolded her, she still stayed strong and I rarely saw her get angry with my grandmother. She didn’t fight back, but just kept quiet. My father is a bad tempered person, my mum can always stand with his temper and calm him down.

My father, he used to be a bad temper, but the way he does things are very systematic and organized. He plans carefully for all the things to be done and he is always an excellent person in my heart. Now, he always try to control his temper, and his temper is getting better and better now. :) Also, my father is a filial person. Although his bad temper does let my grandmother down sometimes, but when he reflects back about his fault, he is always the person to apologize to my grandmother. Whenever he does something, he always thinks of my grandmother in the first place.

Embody the qualities you admire in the person.

I’m raised in a traditional family, so I always follow my mother in doing some house chores. I’m trying to learn cooking although I have no interest in it. My mindset is that: A woman must know how to cook. And I believe that a woman that knows cooking is definitely an advantage to herself.

I changed to be bad temper when I worked in the industrial field, which I fought with people everyday to make things done. Because of that, I felt tired of myself as all the bad moods come in. Now I’m learning to calm down my temper whenever I meet unpleasant incidents. I always reflect back myself every quarter of the year, to see how far I have achieved, and how much I can improve. :)

Identify at least one positive thing about your day.

Today, I asked my students to create a simple game in a web page. I saw them managed to make it and they played the game happily. I hope the same will go to the other class in the coming Monday. :)

During the evening, I went for a walk with my mum, and we met the aunty of the grocery shop. 3 of us walked together and we enjoyed the walk for more than one hour. ^^

21DPC Day 8 – How Can You Overcome Your Stressors (from Day 7)?

How Can You Overcome Your Stressors (from Day 7)?

In day 7, I mentioned that I feel stress when I take over some responsibility and then find out that I cannot make it. To overcome this, I would tell myself that, since I have taken it up, so I should do the best I can. If I fail in the end, that will be what I learn as experience.

Next time, I should do more investigation on the responsibility before I agree to take it over. Once I have done the research, I should know the confidence level I have towards the responsibility. If I know that I cannot take it, then I should reject, instead of taking the role and worried for it.

Implement what you wrote in #1.

Now, I’m facing the problem in my community club. I will do my best to encourage the members to participate in achieving the club goals. It is not only for club development, it’s for personal development too. Just invite them to discuss together and see how we can move the club forward, move the members forward. :) Since I have taken it up. just do my best before I pass the responsibilities to the next person in the next term.

Identify at least one positive thing about your day.

Yesterday, I learn another few Japanese words while fetching my Japanese friend to zither class. Also, I did exercise for 45 minutes in the gym center in my college. :)

21DPC Day 7 – What Stresses You? Why?

What stresses you?

When I took up the responsibilities and then got to know that it is not an easy job, then I feel the stress. I know since I have taken it up, it is a journey for me to learn. If I cannot make it, then I am the one to fail myself, not others. So, I would say, the stress comes from my inner self, not from anyone else.

Give yourself a break.

Hmm… I didn’t leave my job early as that is my job, my responsibility. However, I met up with a senior member of my community club, helped her out one something. Well, I would say, I had more stress when I faced to her, as she will be the person to push me going forward, and I feel that I don’t want to disappoint her, and myself too. It can be a stress, and it can be a release of stress too. After talking about the club’s operation, we had a chit chat too, just chatted about our lives, and I learned new things from her too. :)

Identify at least one positive thing about your day.

Today is my first day of coaching in the zither class. It was a basic class. I was only the helper in the class, but the main coach left the class for me in the second half of the session. Aha, luckily, I could play better without any mistake. :P

It was a good experience for the coaching in the zither class. The feeling was different from teaching in my daily classes. I hope that I can do it better. Maybe I was just too serious during the zither class just now, and they were so serious with me too… Or, maybe the main coach knew them for long time, so they could joke with him more. Anyway, I learned the feeling, I learned the method of coaching. :)

21DPC Day 6 – What Makes You Smile?

What Makes You Smile?

Everyday, I smile a lot. A simple joke told by my family members / friends, students make fun of me (my students are naughty but nice to me :P ), listening to music, read comics, watch anime, etc. I just like to smile a lot. Sometimes, even if I feel sad, I smile too. It could be a fake smile, but a smile makes myself feel better, at least for a while. Besides, whenever I see my friends smile, I smile too.

Do something that makes you smile today. :)

Yesterday, I read this post but I had no time to reply as I had full day of classes and activity after class. To me, since I smile a lot everyday, I couldn’t remember what makes me smile. Imagine, even I’m typing right now, I’m smiling alone too. :) So, I just pick one thing to talk about. Last night, I did a simple exercise, which I stood against the wall for 15 minutes. I made sure that my calves, buttock, back and my head were stuck against the wall. After I finished the 15 minutes standing, I felt that my legs couldn’t band at all. Aha… I just laughed at myself and told myself, “I would be fine after a few times of this exercise”. =.=

By the way, I believe that, laugh unintentionally would be the true laugh from our hearts, but not to do something purposely to make ourselves laughing. :) Probably, we should change our mindset while we meet something unpleasant, then give a smile to ourselves and tell ourselves that, “I will do it better the next time!”

Identify at least one positive thing about your day.

I went for a community club meeting, and the club was doing well. We were able to invite the high positioned members to help out in our club meeting. After the meeting, the members gave me some advice on how to improve the club. I hope that I can do it better! I still have time to make it a success!
:)

21DPC Day 5 – What Do/Did You Love Most About Your Mom/Dad?

What Do/Did You Love Most About Your Mom/Dad?

What I love most about my parents. I love the way they treat and communicate with each other. As I mentioned in the earlier, my father is always the role model for me. He is a good father, a good husband, and now a good grandfather! My mum, she is always the person whom I can rely on to get some solutions upon my problems.

I have lived for almost 30 years, and I have never seen my parents have quarrel. They have agreed for not quarreling in front of children, don’t drink alcohol in front of children (In fact, my father is a good alcoholic drinker), respect the children. And, they agreed to hold hands whenever they hang out, even if they are angry at each other. So, until now, they are still like sweet couples at home or outside. XD When they have any problem between them, they will sit down and talk calmly about it, find a solution for the problem and go on with the life.

As far as I know, my parents always do as what they say. They say it, he mean it. Once they promise something, they will do it. But, in the other way round, if they don’t agree on something, they will definitely don’t agree with that. They respect us, and we respect them too. :)

Do something nice for your mom/dad today.

Today, I went out to have an evening walk with my mum. And I watched movie together with them at night. This is the normal routine in my family. Most of the time, I have dinner with them, and after having dinner, we chit chat for more than one hour. Just that today, I had some bread before exercising, so I took the dinner later than them.

Identify at least one positive thing about your day.

This morning, when I reached college, my “evil” thought came into my mind. I let my students have an emergency quiz without informing them prior to the class. XD

As my subject is a programming subject, which requires hands-on to do practical questions, I always do this kind of quiz in my classes, just to see how much they coped in the class. Of course, I was kind enough to let them had the open book quiz, and I even let them discuss with their friends. The only rule in the quiz was “Don’t ask me any question on the logic and codes”. Once they ask me any question about those, the whole quiz will turn out to be zero mark for the whole class.

I was not trying to be lazy. In fact, I wanted to see them guiding each other and see if they understand the context correctly. In the end, although there were only 2 students managed to complete the whole answer, but 2 of them were willingly to help out their friends in solving the questions. It was good to see the spirit of cooperation among all of them in fighting with the time to solve the quiz question. :)

For me, I just walked around and give them the overall idea of the question. :P

21DPC Day 4 – What Is Your Favorite Movie? And Why?

I don’t really watch much of movies, honestly. In deed, I watch a lot of anime. :P

By going through the list of “12 Meaningful Movies With Important Life Lessons to Learn” from Celes, the only movie I have watched before is The Secret. That movie inspired me a lot. Until now, I’m still using the method in most of the situations. :)

In terms of anime, I love a lot of anime from Studio Ghibli. For example, Spirited Away, Howl’s Moving Castle, Princess Mononoke, Grave of the Fireflies, etc. The movies express the inner part of ourselves, and talks about Go Green, stop fighting and wars. I feel touched every time I watch the movies, and it let us reflect back that we should stop fighting, take care of our mother Earth.

Today, I used the Pomodoro Technique that I learned from Sarah’s thread in the forum to concentrate in marking the test. Yes, I have finish marking the test in a very short time period! ^^

21DPC Day 3 – What is One Thing That Has Been Frustrating You Lately? How Can You Overcome It?

What is One Thing That Has Been Frustrating You Lately?
Lately, I feel frustrated while I was trying to organize a contest in my club. I’m not the organizing chair, but I was trying to provide guidance to the organizing chair. However, it seems that the organizing chair didn’t really care about it, until last minute, he sent a message to me and said want to postpone to two weeks later. After postponing the contest date, he disappeared again, until 3 days before the new contest date, he contacted me and said that everything was not ready…

Of course, the contest still had to go on. What I could do was to provide whatever materials that he needed and guide him the flow of the contest, because I was the organizing chair before. This round, I’m a contestant, so initially I thought I could fully concentrate on my speech preparation after finish marking the tests given to my students. But ended up, I had to help him out, so I decided to pull myself out from the prepared speech contest, since I had no time in preparation. I joined another contest, which didn’t require any preparation, I just needed to go up on the stage and speak for 2 minutes on the topic given by the contest chair.

Today is the contest date itself. In fact, I just come back from the contest. I would say, no matter how good / bad the contest preparation was, we learned the experience. When I was the organizing chair, I really learned a lot. Now, even though I was not the organizing chair, still, I learned new thing while helping him out. I guess, this can be considered as a positive thing for today. :)

Recently, I read an article: A person was trying to find a sentence that can make a happy person to be down after listening it; and make an frustrated person to be happy after listening it. He kept on finding for the sentence for a very long time… Can you think of any sentence that is so powerful??

The sentence is: All these will be gone one day.

If a person is happy with what he has right now, and you tell him: “All these will be gone one day”. The person should feel down after listening to what you said. Whereas if a person is frustrated with the problems around him, and you tell him: “All these will be gone one day”. The person should at least feel released and happier a bit. :)

I didn’t know how powerful of this sentence, until I read the article, then only i realized… yeah, I’m not sure since when, whenever I face any problem, I always tell myself: All these will be gone one day. This is really a powerful sentence that cheer me up. I know that it will be gone one day, so why should I worry so much for it? I just need to do my best, if I cannot make it, I just learn it, take it as an experience. ^^

Now, I feel released after the contest, and again, I tell myself: The contest has finished, it’s gone now. XD

21DPC Day 2 – Who is One Friend You Appreciate Having? And Why?

Aiks… I just manage to read today’s task now, unable to tell my best friend about it today. However, I have told her how much I appreciate her and treasure our friendship before. I believe, up till now, both of us are still having the same feeling.

I knew her since secondary school, we help each other since then. She is a mixed of Indian and Chinese and she is the only one friend that speak English to me. She started the conversation with me and since then, we became new friends, good friends, then best friends.

She taught me history subject by telling me all sort of history story in order to help me to remember it. I taught her Mathematics. I still can remember, when we got high education certification exam result, she told me that she got an A in Mathematics! I could see how happy she was, and I felt happy in myself too. For me, I failed History subject in all school exams, but I got a grade 4 (the lowest is grade 9, failed) in the high education certification exam!! XD I felt so happy for my result too!!

When I heard from her that she had a disease in her brain, I cried quietly. After her operation, I rushed to her house, just wanted to see her again.
When I received her letter, I smiled. I always called it as a “love letter”. She said that she fell in love with our friendship, she treasured the friendship so much. I replied, “yes, I feel exactly the same as you”. Simple words, but I have included all the thoughts from my heart in the reply.

After secondary school, we went to the same college, same course, same university, and even worked in the same company! Now, although I have left the company, but we still keep in touch with each other always. I can’t state how much she has helped me in my life, and I believe she can’t do so as well. Both of us just appreciate our friendship so much.

She just delivered a baby girl 3 weeks ago and I visited her. She looked so happy with the baby girl~ I hope that she’s always the happiest mom, the happiest wife and the happiest friend of mine! :)

About today’s positive thing:
Today, I fetched my Japanese zither classmate to the zither class. While we were on the way to the class, I learned a few new Japanese words again! XD

During the zither class, I managed to play the zither louder as we were trying to ensemble. Playing music instrument with a group of people is always more fun than practicing alone. :)

Lastly, I knew that I will become the zither teacher next week as the first try. I ask my teacher, what I should teach in the class for the very first class. My teacher let me reflect back how he taught us in our first class… It made me recall back my happy moments while I first starting to learn zither. It was fun and happy!! I hope that I could bring the happiness and fun to my zither students too~ ^^

Just in case someone doesn’t know what a zither is… It is a music instrument of Chinese Orchestra.

21DPC Day 1 – On a Scale of 1-10, How Happy Are You? And Why?

On the 29-February, I started a new challenge from Personal Excellence Website again. It supposes to be started on the 1-March, but I started it slightly earlier since the question has been posted. 大笑The challenge is 21 Daily Positive Challenge (21DPC). Today, suppose to be the the Day 10 of this challenge. Thus, this post is actually a back-dated post. 吐舌笑脸

===================================================================================================

On a Scale of 1-10, How Happy Are You? And Why?
I would give myself a 9/10 as a happy person. Why? I’m happy most of the time because of the love I have from my family and friends, also I have the love from my inner heart too. :)

I can fall asleep easily, and so my friends always say that I don’t have anything to be worried about, that’s why I can fall into sleep so fast, within 5 minutes. XD Yes, I appreciate the time I have. I always tell myself, “Who knows, I might be leaving this world in the next second? So I have to do whatever I like before I leave. I’m going to ensure that I’m enjoying my life as much as possible. ^^

Why Did You Not Give Yourself a 10/10?
I would say, when I’m enjoying my life, I wish to try out new things, new experience. So I always challenge myself, I want to see how far I can go. Sometimes, I ended up giving myself a terrible mood because of my own failure in the challenge.

For example, I know that I’m not good in working with people in a group, but I would like to see if I can go with it, so I took up the president position in a community club. Now, I’m suffered from the president position, especially when I meet people that doesn’t really wish to contribute. :( I feel the pressure, although I’m doing my best to ensure the club is operating well. From there, I learned the pressure, and I learned new things, new experience, and I feel grateful that I have seniors guiding me. That’s the reason that I still feel some happiness with my own decision.

The last task: identify at least one positive things about my day.
Today, I gave a test to my students. I know that my question is not too hard, but the question is not easy though. I felt happy when I see them managed to answer my question. And I heard that they have started to do their assignment question, which is to create a game system. As comparing to the last batch of students, their attitudes are not bad!! At least, they are not doing last minute work. :D

One more thing, a student of mine failed my subject last year. Because of my subject, he was retained one year and couldn’t further his study to a degree course in my college. I can see that his attitude has changed a lot, he is very hardworking this round, and he did the whole assignment question by himself, without grouping with other students. He prompted me a lot of questions about the difficulties he faced while doing his assignment, and he learned to search information online efficiently. Today, he shared with me about his working experience last year before retaking my subject. I could see that he learned a lot from his work. I felt really happy to see him changing so much!

The last thing, after I came back from college, I had dinner and chit chat with my parents. I always appreciate the time chatting with them, knowing what they thought, what they do everyday. Even though they are retired, but their lives are not dull at all. They plant a lot of fruits in the garden, take care of the plants, they hang out for dating  , and they meet up with friends, etc… I’m glad that they are still healthy and happy all the time!

Quick update ^^

As I didn’t have the time recently, I have just updated all my 21DFC posts into this blog. All these posts were written in the 21DFC daily posts, and I just grab it back to be posted here. 微笑

Later, I will continue posting the blog posts for 21DPC, which is a new challenge that I’m currently taking. It’s kind of interesting, but I did have some delay because my schedule were so pack these few days. I was busy, but I felt good to have my life all filled up with the activities that I like. XD

21DFC Round-Up – How Has Your Experience Been?

1. How was 21DFC for you?
It was a great challenge!! I told myself: if I could get through this 21DFC, there’s no reason for me not to exercise 3 times a week!!

2. On a scale of 1-10 (where 10 is most useful and 1 is not useful at all), how useful has 21DFC been in pursuing your fitness goals? Why did you give that score?
I give myself a scale of 8 as I didn’t achieve one of my goals: lose weight.
However, I managed to reduce my waist size. :)

3. What did you like most about the challenge?
This is the first time I joined the challenge officially together with the community in PE. I learned a lot from other members, makes me feel great!

4. What did you like least?
Hmm… so far, everything is great to me. :)

5. Anything you would like to see at PE moving forward?
Same as Mrs and Monisha, I wish to see reading / listening to music challenge for 21 days if possible. :)
